To kick off this year's borderline club culture, Noémi Büchi is bringing the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich to Kauz – albeit only through the loudspeakers. For the SONIC MATTER festival, she is incorporating the soundscape of Daníel Bjarnason's «Emergence» – which will be performed in the Satellite Concert at the Tonhalle on 29 November 2024 – into her new work, which will be premiered at Kauz with the title «Beyond Emergence». The dancefloor will be opened by two well-travelled guests: El Kontessa, who experiments at the intersection of bass, mahraganat rhythms and the sonic environment of her home city of Cairo, and Boshoco, bringing along a playful fusion of left field electronic dance music and contemporary music from the Arab region. They will be joined later in the evening by Zurich legend Uhuruku as well as sound tinkerer Brvna. – – –
