DEARS is a magazine for writing practices at the intersection of art, poetry and experimental writing. It explores how new forms of language can contribute to opening up new ways of living together. DEARS is published primarily as a printed magazine, but can also transform into other media, such as performance happenings or audio pieces. For SONIC MATTER, DEARS has developed two performance programs that explore different facets of the voice: as a vehicle of language, as a tool to create meaning through sounds or as a musical instrument. The performances are based on unheard stories, critical listening, and the use of body and sound as an alternative way of expression.
