Biography | Christoph Delz was born in Basel on 3 January 1950. He started to play the piano and studying music theory when he was very young. While he was still in school had graduated as a piano teacher and pianist. Between 1974 and 1981 he continued his education in Cologne, studying with Aloys Kontarsky (piano), Karlheinz Stockhausen (composition), and Volker Wangenheim (conducting), supplementing his composition studies with Henri Pousseur in Lüttich. Between 1981 and 1984 he worked in the electronic studios at the Conservatory in Cologne whilst studying German philology and Philosophy at the university. He remained in Cologne until 1989 and after moved to Riehen near Basel, where he died on 13th September 1993. |
