Hyper Duo
BiographyHYPER DUO – formed by pianist Gilles Grimaitre and percussionist Julien Mégroz – is a Swiss experimental group devoted to contemporary creation, whose artistic aim it is to transgress stylistic boundaries and broaden horizons. Deeply marked by intensive collaborations with extraordinary composers and artists, sophisticated and visceral, the universe of the two musicians is as serious as it is playful. Energetic and disconcerting, HYPER DUO engages in an exploration halfway between avant-garde composition, rock energy and absurdist poetry.
Since 2017, the duo also focus on a new original instrumentation: drumset and electronic keyboards. Always searching for original programmes which blur the boundaries between music and performance-art, the duo represents a collective exploration of sound, space, and affect.
HYPER DUO has performed at Musica (Strasbourg), BiME (Lyon), Bypass (Toulouse), Forum Wallis (Leukerbad), Label Suisse (Lausanne), Pyramidale (Berlin), Tzlil Meudcan (Tel Aviv), Pod’Ring (Biel), Taktlos Festival (Zürich), 180 Degrees Festival, ppIANISsIMO Festival (Sofia), Izlog Festival (Zagreb), Le Bruit de la Musique (Creuse, FR), Musikfestival (Bern), Jardins Musicaux (Cernier), Théâtre des Quatre Saisons (Bordeaux), Theater im Pumpenhaus (Münster).
