Biography | Georgian-Swiss pianist Tamriko Kordzaia became renowned in her native Georgia as an interpreter of Mozart and Haydn. After moving to Switzerland, she continued in this field, but became more and more engaged in contemporary music. Tamriko Kordzaia performs regularly in Switzerland and abroad, in various formations and at international festivals. Since 2008 she has been a member of the Mondrian Ensemble which received the Swiss Music Award 2018. In addition to collaborations with other instrumentalists, it is the often very close collaboration with composers that nourishes her preoccupation with contemporary music. Her preoccupation with contemporary music extends beyond the field of New Music: She frequently works together with musicians from electronic club music, experimental music or jazz-related contexts. She also seeks connections to other artistic disciplines and fields, be it in theatre and opera productions, the visual arts, performance, or film. Tamriko Kordzaia has received numerous national and international awards and has released numerous recordings. Her name is closely associated with the rediscovery of the Georgian composer Mikheil Shugliashvili, by whom she has premiered and recorded several works.
