Thomas Giger
BiographyThomas Giger (*1975, Basel) first worked as a lighting technician and light designer at the Theater Basel before studying scenography at the Zurich University of the Arts. He completed his Master's degree with Michael Simon. Giger developed lighting and stage concepts for productions by Bruno Cathomas, Teresa Vittucci, Laura Koerfer, Ruedi Häusermann, Werner Düggelin, Albrecht Hirche, Marat Burnaschev, and Antje Schupp, among others. He also works continuously with the groups and artists Malte Schlösser, Ben Burger, yuri500 and vorschlag:hammer. At the Haus der elektronischen Künste Basel, at the Hochschule der Künste Bern, and in the public space of Winterthur, Thomas Giger exhibited various works from of visual art. He developed scenographies and spatial concepts for the performance festival Perform Now in Winterthur, the Haus der elektronischen Künste Basel, the Schweizer Theaterpreis 2016 in Geneva and others. Thomas Giger was awarded the Prix netzhdk. He lives and works in Basel.
