| Program | Greenman Muleh Mbillo & Dani Ploeger – Concept, design & performance «From the Tree»(2023) |
| Description | «Kuausia-ing» is a Kenyan practice of prophecy. The initiation ofthe ritual, which is deeply rooted in tradition, is performed by healers of the Akamba peopleon the «nzevu,» a ritual instrument forbidden to be used in public. «From the Tree» is based on long-standing research into technology and mythology by the artist duo Greenman Muleh Mbillo & Dani Ploeger. The performance imagines «Kuausia-ing» in the digital age and guides the audience through the preparations for the ritual. What happens during the performance, how ritual instruments sound in a digitalized day, and what Greenman Muleh Mbillo has brought from Akambaland to Zurich will only be revealed to those participating… Co-production: Ensemble Tzara, cooperation: Gessnerallee, Völkerkundemuseum der Universität Zürich |
