LABEL LOUNGE

The Label Lounge is a place that celebrates listening. In a cosy atmosphere, we collectively listen to releases from local and international labels and talk to their owners and artists about the creation of the music during the Lounge Talks. Guests at the Label Lounge are the Zurich label -OUS and Syrian Cassette Archives. Since 2015, -OUS has been dedicated to «electronic and experimental music with intention, depth and edges». Syrian Cassette Archives is an imprint digitising the vast treasure trove of cassettes released in Syria between the 1970s and 2000, making it accessible in an online database. An exhibition with listening stations will present the two labels and selected releases. A documentary film followed by a discussion will provide insight into the tireless, almost archaeological work that the minds behind Syrian Cassette Archives are putting into preserving and documenting recent Syrian music history.
