| Program | Dieter Ammann: Turn (2010) |
| Description | Turning points, opposites and shifts in perspective will characterise the concert of the Zurich Tonhalle Orchestra. «It’s precisely where the music becomes quite obvious to the listener and easy to grasp that the turn occurs – a turning point at which the hitherto sounds completely implode and change abruptly into a different soundscape. It is comparable to scenery on a stage where the lighting and stage equipment all of a sudden create a new atmosphere », says Dieter Ammann about his work «Turn». In her work «dropped.drowned», Sarah Nemtsov changes the hierarchies of sound. Instruments that are usually heard at best in solo passages here become a core part of the orchestral apparatus, while otherwise prominent instrumental groups only come to the fore in brief time windows. The clash of different forms is the focus of Eric Montalbetti’s «Eclair physionomique», whether it’s a matter of circles and dashes or of modal and chromatic musical figures. He raises the question as to how, when they encounter each other, such opposing beings can influence each other in the conflict between striving for balance and striving for contrast. Suitable for all who like to sit, watch and listen for 90 minutes. |
