| Biography | Aleksei Martyniuk (*1990) is a filmmaker and interdisciplinary artist. With the help of new media and technologies, he pushes the boundaries of his own artistic practice. One of the themes Martyniuk’s researches through his work is cyclicality/iterativity in all its forms. His video works are kaleidoscopic collages that react to discoveries (he has) made or events in progress. Through his narrative experiments, he plays with the repeatability of various phenomena and explores their possible interpretations. The surreal worlds Martyniuk creates are attempts to redefine familiar things and place them in new contexts to expand the boundaries of their perception and to involve the viewer in this game of meditation and self-reflection. ABOUT Aleksei Martyniuk: «ARCHOUSTIC CITIES 01 - Vladivostok» Cities have their own familiar to us soundscape, but a huge part of it is beyond perception. Various devices allow to hear the objects and phenomena that are usually silent for us. Like archaeologists, layer by layer digging their way to the ancient knowledge, we can delve into this acoustic world. The discoveries I found led me to the image of «ARCHOUSTIC CITIES» - sounding cities that hidden from us. The first artwork in the series is dedicated to my hometown Vladivostok.
