BiographyAriel Mioduser (*1960) is a media artist born Buenos Aires, Argentina and based in Jaffa, Israel, focused on sound art, animation and digital painting. His sound works have evolved from the use of field recordings and electronic instruments to being primarily voice based. He uses the bare pixel, the basic element of digital art, as the visual raw material for his works, in which the visual and the sound blend together. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Visual Communication from the Bezalel Academy in Israel and a Master in Cultural Studies from the University of Alcalá, Spain. He also completed a Diploma in Music and Technology from the Department of Electroacoustics at Bar Ilan University, Israel. Mioduser has participated in numerous festivals and group and solo exhibitions in Israel and abroad. His latest solo exhibition «Static Noise» took place in Tel Aviv in September 2022 and consisted of self-portraits made with sound and digital painting. His previous one, titled «Stilllife» took place in November 2021 and comprised sound and animation works. He has found that the fusion of static images and sound works creates a new way of experiencing the works by adding the dimension of time and inviting the viewer to immerse in the work.

ABOUT Ariel Mioduser: «Medusa»

A hypnotic and meditative journey, made of a very slow harmonic progression. At a certain point, a far away melody is heard as if an echo from a distant future, until a sudden burst calls back from the trance-like state.
The raw material of the sound is largely based on my voice, processed to a point where it is sometimes unrecognizable as a human voice, but still carries the warmth and vibration of the original.
