| Biography | Twenty years old, based in Geneva, Switzerland, the Ensemble Vortex is a collaborative structure. The creation of new repertoire, the experimentation and the continuous discovery of emergent composers and artists are fundamental aspects of its artistic journey. Over the years, the group has extensively worked with live electronics and computer music. Vortex performers have a special interest in music theatre and improvisation; several projects have included collaborations with video artists, theatre directors and dancers. The ensemble has been deeply involved in hybrid projects dealing with new media, motion and gesture capture technologies and has commissioned and premiered over two hundred new works written by young composers all over the world. Vortex has been invited to perform by the Foundation Royaumont of France, STEIM (The Netherlands), Festival Archipel (Switzerland), ReMusik, St. Petersburg (Russia), Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival (U.K.), Warsaw Autumn (Poland), Bendigo International Festival of Exploratory Music (Australia), Acht Brücken (Cologne, Germany) among many others. Vortex has also performed in Latin America in festivals of contemporary music in Santiago, La Serena, Bogotá, Medellín and Buenos Aires. |
