| Biography | Freida Abtan (*1976) is a Canadian multi-disciplinary artist and musician inspired by sensory immersion. Deemed an «audiovisual sorceress», her music ranges from acousmatic composition to more industrial and pop-influenced experimental anthems. Both as a solo artist and as a floating member of the renowned experimental music group «Nurse with Wound» she has toured internationally. Her compositions, performances, and installations have been featured at Mutek (Canada), the Elektra Festival (Canada), the Spark Festival of Electronic Music (United States), and the Cap Sembrat Festival (Spain), amongst many others. Until recently she lead the Electronic Music, Computing, and Technology Bachelor of music/Bachelor of Science program at Goldsmiths, University of London. She currently teaches Electronic Music Composition at Carnegie Mellon University.
