Romane Bouffioux
BiographyRomane Bouffioux (she/her) is a swiss percussionist, performer, and teacher based in Bern, specializing in contemporary music. She is particularly interested in creation, interdisciplinarity, and artistic collaboration in the field of contemporary music. In 2023, she completed her Master's in Pedagogy – Percussion, with a minor in Musical Theatre/Composition at the HKB Hochschule der Künste Bern with distinction, receiving the highest grade at her Master's Recital. She has trained with renowned musicians such as Brian Archinal, Jochen Schorer, Simon Steen Andersen, Cathy Van Eck, among others.
She is the founder of various projects in the realms of creation, musical theatre, electroacoustic music, such as Romanesco Duo, Projet Ohr and 4tet Laboratoire. She is also member of Eklekto Percussion Geneva Center and Insub Meta Orchestra.
She performs in Switzerland and internationally at venues such as the Internationales Musikinstitut Darmstadt, Time of Music Finland, Mixtur Barcelona, Les amplitudes CH, Musik festival Bern among others and has played with various renowned ensembles and orchestras including Vortex, Ensemble Modern, IEMA, We Spoke, Dissolution, among others. In addition to written repertoire, she is an improviser. Improvised music allows her to make new connections and enrich her language.
In 2023, she received the Kranischtein Musikpreis from the city of Darmstadt. She is composer-in-residence with Ensemble Vortex in Geneva. In 2025 she performed at Real-Time Festival in Bremen as a laureate from Köster Preis.
