| Biografie | Joan Jordi Oliver (*1994) ist Saxofonist, Komponist und Elektronikmusiker, geboren auf Mallorca (Spanien) und lebt in Zürich (Schweiz). Sein vielseitiges musikalisches Wirken verschmilzt Performance, Komposition, Improvisation und elektroakustische Elemente zu einem sehr eklektischen, aber individuellen musikalischen Ausdruck. Seine Versessenheit, die Möglichkeiten des Saxofons immer wieder neu zu entdecken und die Erweiterung seines Instruments durch Elektronik resultierten in der Verbindung von akustischen Elementen, Synthesizerklängen und digitalen Prozessen. Olivers breit gefächerte musikalische Interessen haben ein Werk hervorgebracht, das stilistische Grenzen ignoriert und sich nach einer eigenen Identität an der Schnittstelle von Ambient, Minimalismus, freier Improvisation, zeitgenössischer klassischer Musik und experimenteller Electronik sehnt. Oliver arbeitet international als freischaffender Musiker mit einem vollen Kalender sowohl als Interpret als auch als Komponist. Ausserdem ist er Lehrer für elektronische Musik an der Musikschule Konservatorium Zürich und an der Musikschule Weinfelden. Seine pädagogische Tätigkeit wird ergänzt durch seine Forschungstätigkeit am Institute for Computer Music and Sound Technology der Zürcher Hochschule der Künste. Darüber hinaus ist er als Kurator und Organisator der monatlichen Konzertreihe «Strom am Mittag» tätig, die sich der experimentellen elektronischen Musik widmet. ABOUT Joan Jordi Oliver: «Línies» «Línies» is a continuation of Joan Jordi Oliver’s permanent exploration of a personal electroacoustic world that combines the sound of the saxophone with the possibilities of real time digital processing and the sonority of synthesizers. A hybrid voice where these instrumental identities merge creates an ambiguous soundscape that is peaceful and welcoming at times, dense and asphyxiating at other times. Línies is conceived as a collection of interconnected pieces, with a duration that can expand up to a full 45’ set. The musical language that shapes these compositions also rejects stylistic borders, finding itself at the intersection of ambient, minimalism, drone and contemporary classical music. (The present audio is the recording of a live performance of the first track of the set. A studio-recording is planned for July and would replace the current file in case it would be considered for the presentation at Sonic Matter.
